Mixing a flower essence remedy
To reduce the contamination of a stock essence when mixing remedies prepare everything in advance by having bottles, alcohol, spring water and labels ready. Bottles must be new and sterilised, discard used bottles as they are tainted by the energies of previous remedies and cannot be washed out. The most common preserving agents for flower essences are brandy, vodka, cider vinegar, malt vinegar, vegetable glycerine or spring water. Brandy can be diluted by quarter or half with pure spring water. Essences mixed into pure spring water, must be kept in the fridge as full potency will only last a few days.
Flower essences work between the higher subtle aspects of spirit and mind to emotion and the physical density of the body. With oral dosing the amount of flower essence used is determined by the nature of the issue. The more essence used, the denser and more physical the issues while the less essence used the more subtle the level ie mind and spirit. As a general guide use a bottle with a dropper, place a small amount of brandy into the bottle then place 6 drops of essence or each essence you are using in a 15ml or 30ml bottle. Place a 1/3 to 1/2 amount of brandy in the bottle and top the remedy up to the neck of the bottle with pure spring water. Blend the mixture by pounding the base of the bottle against the palm of your hand for ten seconds. This integrates the mixture and its ready for application.
Administering a flower essence remedy
There are two methods of taking flower essences orally. They can be taken one drop under the tongue six times a day or six drops under the tongue or in half a glass of water morning and late afternoon or evening.
A 15ml remedy will last 2-4 weeks while a 30ml will last between 6-8 weeks if applied as directed above. At the end of this period reassess the effect of healing one has experienced and whether a further application is required.
The more precised one matches flower essences and their dosage to mind-body issues the more the healing is enhanced and experienced. If incorrect flower essences are chosen they will have no detrimental effect on the body as they are merely rejected and discarded by the body causing no harm.
Flower essences are medicine, so hygiene procedures should be adopted when taking them orally under the tongue. Care must be taken not to touch the dropper to any surface or part of the mouth. Rinse the dropper with spring water or brandy before placing it in the bottle if this happens. Lids of the essence bottles should be secured to minimise contamination from the air or the evaporation of the preserving agent reducing the life of the essence.
How to store essences
To maintain the longevity of flower essences store them out of direct sunlight and in a moderate or cool environment. Preferably store them below 30c standing upright to minimise the alcohol from deteriorating the rubber dropper. Essences should be kept separate from incense and essential oils or any products with strong aromas that may taint the essence by seeping through the rubber dropper and affecting the quality of the essence.
